One important aspect of the program is to fully engage our associates and our customers throughout the processes.
Our Hotels in Hong Kong
Being carbon neutral is one of the ultimate goals in environmental protection. Regal iClub Hotel
has conducted a number of assessments and measurements on the facilities' carbon footprints according to international standards of ISO 14064 and GHG Protocol, and became Hong Kong's first hotel to go carbon neutral since 2010. The hotel's footprints were reduced and offset to achieve its carbon neutral status. The offsets were from the Sichuan NW Afforestation and Reforestation Project which has been certified in 2009 under the United Nations Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), Executive Board and the Board of Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standard (CCB).
Regal iClub Hotel's Carbon Neutral Program is undertaken with the technical support and advisory services of Carbon Care Asia, a provider of integrated Total Carbon Management solutions.
Our Hotels in China Mainland
Regal Hotels in China Mainland follow the group direction by taking practical actions. Regal International East Asia Hotel
and Regal Shanghai East Asia Hotel
in Shanghai have both passed the Green Hotel criteria set by the National Tourism Administration of China, and recognized as “Golden Leaf” and “Silver Leaf" standard respectively. These recognitions are reflection of the success of the environmental protection measures implemented in these 2 Shanghai hotels, and have become a model for other hotels to follow in China.
Our Restaurants and Catering
Our hotel group has also actively implemented green ideas in our restaurants and banquet service, including Green Wedding
, Green Meeting Packages
, Low Carbon Menus and the introduction of marine-friendly menus to engage our customers and be a part of our green contribution.
This year, 3 Regal Hotels in Hong Kong including Regal Hongkong Hotel
, Regal Kowloon Hotel
and Regal Oriental Hotel
joined hands with Foodlink Foundation to reduce food wastage. As the donor of Foodlink, these 3 Regal Hotels donate safe-to-eat surplus food to Foodlink, a non-profitable charitable organization responsible for delivering food to those in need. Regal Hotels supports the organization's mission to mitigate hunger, fight poverty and foster nutritional wellness while reducing food wastage in hotels' restaurants.
Apart from the foodlink program, Regal Hotels recently set up organic farms at each property in Hong Kong. Each hotel has grown various kinds of herbs to become fresh, chemical-free organic herbal seasonings in the hotels’ daily recipes. In addition, plants can clean and purify air as anti-pollutants and reduce components of indoor air pollution, making our air fresher.
Our Social Participation
"Earth Hour" is one of the world's biggest environmental events to unite everyone to take collective action on climate changes, It also symbolizes a commitment by individuals, communities, businesses and governments worldwide. Our hotels turned off their non-essential lights during the appointed one hour, as the Earth Hour, to show our care for the earth. This year, 6 Regal Hotels in Hong Kong and Regal Hotel in Dezhou, China participated in this program. Together with various forms of green practices, our group pledges to go beyond to take more energy-saving actions in our daily operation.
Be a responsible Associate
Engagement from our customers is vital but would not make our program successful unless we have strong support from our hotel teams. Our associates are encouraged to be environmentally responsible whenever we carry out our duties in our work place.
All levels of associates are encouraged to act green through various green-oriented activities. Green talk and other related training sessions are organized on regular basis in all Regal Hotels for all levels of staff.
Be a responsible Traveler
Thinking and acting green is not only about applying at home. Regal Hotels encourage our customers and guests to be responsible travelers and contributing to the protection of environment:

- Checking in online
- Turn off all electronic appliances and devices at home, not standby mode
- Support airlines with offset campaign of the carbon outputs
- Bring own sanitary or travel cutlery items
- Take public transportation
- Reduce water consumption and conserve energy at hotel
