Language
Mandarin and distinct dialects are mostly spoken in Chengdu.
Currency
The RMB (Renminbi) is the official currency. The basic unit of RMB is the yuan (¥). Currency can be changed at banks or hotels.
Safety and Security
Chengdu government provides excellent security and support for locals and travellers.
Water
The major index qualification of the tap water in Chengdu reaches the required standard. Bottled water is however recommended for drinking rather than tap water, and is widely available for purchase.
Electricity
The electric current used in China is 220V/50Hz. The hotel can provide 220V and 110V (shavers only) power outlets. Please note that plug adapters may be necessary.
Climate
The best times to visit Chengdu are in spring or autumn. The city has a mild and moist climate with four distinct seasons. Generally, the warm spring and cool autumn are the more comfortable seasons.
Tipping
Most hotels add a 15% service charge. Additional tipping is voluntary.
Transportation
Chengdu is the major hub of transportation and finance in southwest region of China.
Time
Time used in Chengdu and all over China is called Beijing standard time. It is 8 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
